What are the indications for microneedling?
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, works by creating millions of controlled microscopic channels in the skin. This simple procedure activates the skin’s natural would healing process – inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling – to prompt tissue remodelling without causing scar tissue formation, resulting in healthy, glowing, and more resilient skin. At M.D. AESTHETICS, microneedling is performed using the SkinPen® device - the world's first FDA-Cleared and CE-Marked microneedling medical device.
What is microneedling?
The SkinPen® is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of acne scars and to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck. It is also intended to be used to treat pigmentation conditions including Melasma, Vitiligo and Solar Lentigines.
What to expect during and after treatment?
The SkinPen® microneedling procedure is a simple, comfortable, and effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. Everybody will have different sensitivities to the treatment and our doctor will advise you on how best to manage any discomfort. A topical anaesthetic is administered to assure maximum comfort during the treatment.
After a SkinPen® treatment, your skin may appear red, similar to a sunburn and may be dry and itchy for a few days, though you should be able to resume your usual lifestyle and activities and continue about your day. Generally there is no real downtime - the skin might appear slightly flushed immediately post-procedure, but the redness should disappear within 18-24 hours. You will be provided a topical product, (LIFT HG, a hydrogel-based glide gel) to take home to apply post-treatment. This can be re-applied as much as needed, up to 24 hours post-treatment
